These shows will be “light” shows, with fewer products and more fun & games. If the show you’d like can’t fit into these parameters, please let me know and other arrangements may be made.

How to choose your first adult toy

A question I'm asked at every show is "What toy should I get?" The answer is always the same: you have to pick the toy that's right for you. The next step for me is to talk to each woman about her needs and expectations. If you're considering getting a toy, getting another toy, or the toys you've chosen just aren't clicking for you, here are some questions you might want to ask yourself.

Do I want an innie or an outie?

There are a variety of reasons why you might not want a penetrating toy. If you want an "outie" then one good choice for you might be a bullet (sometimes called an egg). Vibrators like bullets are used to stimulate the clitoris and can also be used on the nipples or other erongenous zones (think fingertips, earlobes, toes...). TT has a wide selection of external toys. Two of my best selling external toys are the Microbullet and the Silicone Baby Bunny.

"Innie" toys have a shaft element, sometimes realistic and sometimes sleek. Innie toys may include an attached external stimulator; I call these "duo-stim" toys. The most popular of these is a "rabbit" style vibe. Not every innie toy has that duo stim. Passionate Fury is one example of a shaft style "innie" toy.

If I want an innie, how big an innie do I want?

Size doesn't always matter but it can be an important criterion when choosing a toy. Our girthiest toy is Blue Thunder so if you want it big, that's what you might want. The Lovers Wand is one of our slimmest toys (and can be used internally or externally). Rockin Rabbit and Love Bug are among our most popular toys (and are my two best selling toys). Both are duo-stim toys that are a pleasant size for new toy owners. The best way to see the sizes is to host a show.

Do I want a toy we can use together?

A c-ring is a great choice for a couples toy. Many are hands-free (like Dolphin Kiss). Find a toy that will work for your intimate situations. Will you want to control the vibrations of the toy? Will your partner?

What if my partner doesn't want to use toys together or gives me grief about a toy?

If your partner is concerned about bringing a toy into the bedroom, remind him or her that there's no replacement for the intimacy you share and that "romance enhancement" is the name of the game. You'll have to determine your personal situation about your partner's comfort level about your using a toy together or alone. If your partner is uncertain about your having a toy, maybe test the waters with a massage-style vibe (like Simplicity) and only do sensual massages with the toy. If your potential toy use distresses your partner, the #1 approach is communication. Be open and honest about your needs and desires.

Vibrators are as common in households as blenders and coffeemakers and no one else need know there's a vibrator in your home.

I already have (specific toy). What should I get next?

Ask yourself if you love that toy. How would you feel if it vaporized overnight? Would you rush to replace it, bid it a fond farewell, or be grateful it's gone? If you love that toy, you can try a variation on it (if you have a Hare Raiser, maybe try a Pink Passion). If the toy is your Precious -- the One True Toy -- supplement it with something new and different.

Ask your distributor what toys she recommends. Ask what toys are her top sellers. What do women come back and tell her about? Ask what women come in to order, saying, "My friend loves her ___!"

Crown Jewel versus Tunnel of Love

A client recently asked me via e-mail about Crown Jewel and Tunnel of Love, our male sleeve products, and it's a question I hear quite frequently at home parties. I thought I'd share my answer here.

Crown Jewel (CJ) & Tunnel of Love (TL) are quite similar and there's only a dollar difference in price. I'll talk about the attributes they share and then the differences.

Both are great toys, well made & an excellent value. They sell equally well for me. Size-wize they're about the same. Any sleeve requires a lube. Both sleeves can be used with oral sex as well, to stimulate the shaft and shorten the length of the "unit" that's stimulated orally. Both are hollow all the way through (holes at both ends) for cleaning. You can also put a vibrating bullet in the end to make it a vibrating toy (also nice option for ladies who like ladies and want a "lily"-look/feel toy).

TL is made of the Real Feel material, which lives up to the name (one may pierce the "skin" and it comes with an intact hymen ;)). The interior has slight nubs; the outside is smooth. Because of the nature of the material, it has a tendency to grip, especially if you pinch closed the end. A vibrating item held to the outside will be felt more keenly than one used with the CJ. Because it's stretchy, it can accommodate a wider spectrum of sizes. When I show it, I have the "party virgins" close their eyes and put out a finger like ringing a doorbell. I put some Slick inside and take it around to "demonstrate" and the finger is the right size. It's not flimsy-stretchy but it's more versatile, stretch-wise than CJ. It can be flipped completely inside-out for cleaning.

The CJ is a firmer, jelly-like silicone. It's flexible and has more give than one might expect but not as much as the TL. One advantage that the CJ has is that it's lined with "pearls" all along the shaft, which gives an added layer of texture and stimulation. The tighter the grip, the greater the stimulation.

Basically the choice between the two comes down to: how real he wants the sleeve to be and how much he wants the sleeve to do.

Guys LOVE them and so do their partners. It's fun and really, for around $20, it's a good deal.

In my research of products similar to those sold by Tasteful Treasures, I've found many online distributors or products similar to or "identical" to ours, right down to the names.

As a point of interest on my personal Facebook feed, I posted a link to a generic Amazon site that sells products like these.

Last week, I found several Amazon storefronts that sell toys that we carry in our line.

In my opinion, as a consumer, I have every right to shop around and compare not only products but service as well. Why would Suzy Consumer buy something that costs more from Merchant A when Merchant B has the exact same product? Isn't it all about price?

What a naive assumption.

Yes, the products might do similar things, even carry the same name. There end the similarities.

For example, one of the sites that sells toys we carry variations of in our line was flagged by several customers. Yes, the items were much cheaper. They were also used.

Yes -- USED.

They didn't come in the fresh factory packaging that you get or that your TT consultant receives her product in Some items arrived at the customer's door in a wrinkled, beat-up Ziploc. The company refused returns.

When you order a product through a TT distributor or through the website, you're not just buying the product. You're getting peace of mind. The product you're buying is always brand new. Many distributors repackage items, such as removing plastic factory packaging in favor of an attractive net or satin bag. TT distributors guarantee products against manufacturer defect. If you need to make a return or exchange, you're not dealing with someone on the other end of a computer. You get personal, confidential one-on-one service.

You're also buying experience. TT distributors know their product line. We know each individual product. I've seen distributors steer customers away from specific products not to make more money but to make sure the customer was getting the right product for her needs and/or budget. TT distributors are not out for a quick buck. We do this because we're passionate about, well, passion. We want our customers to be beyond 100% satisfied with her purchase. We want her to be sexually confident. We want her personal pleasure to be greater than she imagined it could be.

Would you really want to order raspberry Nipple Nibblers from some anchorless Amazon storefront when you could sample the flavor & the tingle (on your inside lower lip, tyvm) in your own home on a Girls Night In just to save a buck? How confident are you that the product you're going to get from someone who has no other online presence other than an Amazon or eBay storefront hasn't already been opened, sampled, even used & returned?

So I invite my customers to shop around. Look at what other companies offer. Then look at what we offer. If you want to save a couple of dollars, that's your prerogative. I never make online purchases without investigating my options and I believe you should do the same.

And when you're ready to order, after my years of experience trying toys & potions from several sources, I recommend Tasteful Treasures.

What better product to feature this week than the Amazing Heavenly Heart?

The AHH is a reusable hot pack that heats to over 120 degrees when you snap the metal disc inside. Yes, it's completely portable; no microwave needed. The liquid inside heats and stays soft while it's hot and crystallized. As it cools, it becomes firm. Once it's completely cool, you place it in boiling water (on your stovetop please; no microwaves) for 10 minutes and voila! It's a liquid again, ready to be used and reused.

The waterproof plastic is thick and durable and the heart is well-made. The AHH is my top-selling item. Even when we give one away at every party (Dollar Raffle, minimum ten tickets sold), I still have lots of buyers. How much do people love the AHH? I have repeat buyers. Women love the AHH and buy another to have on hand or to give as a gift. There's nothing kinky or sexy about the heart; it does say "express your love through touch" on the box.

POW: Position Master

Position Master is an inflatable pillow that can be used to give you a boost during sex (or just something to hold on to, if your mate is into Irish foreplay*)

It's roughly the size of a standard bed pillow with a slight wedge angle, thanks to its triangular sides. The cover is a brown flocked velvet texture, which gives good traction and makes the pillow look nice if you need to leave it out and inflated.

Slick is a water-based lubricant (a.k.a. "lube") which comes two ways (while you'll come all kinds of ways): Slick Free and Slick Flavored. Slick Flavored has a light, pleasant, summer fruit flavor.

Both products work the same way, giving you natural-feeling lubrication that renews in water or along with your body. Slick doesn't get hot, doesn't get cold, doesn't do anything other than get your body ready for action. If you want products that do that, we certainly have them.

The best lubricant to buy is a water-based lubricant. There are many on the market but for price and quality, I think Slick is well above the others that are out there. Lubes can be godsends for women who are nursing, under stress, depressed, pre- or post-menopausal, etc. You may not even want a lube for sex. You just might want to use a bit to feel more yourself, in case things are dry for you sometimes. Water-based lubes clean up as easily as your natural fluids, don't leave sticky residue or make you rub to get them off (or out).

If you've ever tried those small bottles from the drugstore, you know what an event it can be to get it open & in place before it starts to dampen the mood. When I asked for suggestions of what my Product of the Week should be, the reply came before I'd even finished the sentence: Stud Mud.

POW: Pheromones

Finally: a new Product of the Week, which is going to run through 11/30.

The product of the week is actually an assortment of products with a commonality: pheromones.

I'm a skeptic about all kinds of things, especially claims like those made about pheromones. So as a skeptic, my reaction to such claims is to research and experiment. When I became a Tasteful Treasures consultant, I didn't quite buy into the whole pheromone thing. I thought pheromones were a gimmick used to sell products. "Want to interest your man? You need something with pheromones!" I've worked for companies that have done such things but as I became familiar with TT from the other side of the catalog, I came to find that gimmicks just aren't part of the TT approach. We ain't sellin' snake oil, ladies.

Despite the fact that I'd used and enjoyed TT products for years, I was still wary. Sure, the Stud Mud is fantastic and it does everything we claim it does (including getting him to wash the dishes; if you don't believe me, buy a jar!). But this pheromone business? It smacked of carnival barking to me, to be quite honest. So what did I do? Researched and experimented of course. And I disproved my doubts.

What are pheromones? Simply put, pheromones are chemical signals that trigger response in the same species (although you can ask my hostesses and their guests what happens with their pets once we begin the pheromone portion of the shows). Pheromones are used in defense against predators, to raise alarms, to change behavior, to mark territory, and -- of course -- to select and attract mates.

Science aside, what do the pheromone products offered by Tasteful Treasures do for me? The effect of our pheromone products is twofold. Products may be used for stress relief and/or attraction. Not all attraction is sexual and that's one place where the great benefits of our pheromones come in handy.

I'm going to break here for a sec to tell you what the products are so I can reference them.

Use Scentsational or Body Dew after showering or bathing to maintain a feeling of relaxation. Great for mornings before work or evenings before romance. Body Dew is also an excellent post-shave moisturizer and I highly recommend it for post-tattoo skin moisturizing.

Bliss Body Wash is fairly self-explanatory. Use it while you shower. As many people know, I am a bath gel junkie. I have, easily, 20 bottles in my bathroom (this after discarding some old ones). Bliss is one that I keep in my shower at all times. I admit not being a great fan of plumeria (the "passion" scent of Tasteful Treasures) but I like the moisturizing effect on my super-dry skin plus the extra boost of "aah" I get when I use it.

So what I've begun doing, in addition to using Bliss, is putting some of the Pure Instinct in the bath gels and shower creams that I already love. I get the "aah" with the scents I adore. Pure Instinct is not only the simplest way to use pheromones but it's also the most personal and most versatile. Pure Instinct is a pulse point oil (TT calls it a "cologne," which I believe is an inaccurate term) designed for use on the skin. You can also add it to products like lotions or shower products.

When I show the product, I have everyone squirt some Pure Instinct from an atomizer directly onto her skin. At first, everyone will smell the same: like jojoba oil (mmm). After our break, we come back and everyone smells each other's Pure Instinct spray. I've had sisters remark that their Pure Instinct scent is similar but not identical. Pure Instinct works with your body chemistry to enhance the pheromones you're already producing. When you wear Pure Instinct, you can continue to wear your favorite perfume, body lotion, etc. Everything works together.

Pure Instinct is a no-brainer to put on to get in the mood for romance but there are several other reasons to wear it. If you're stressed at work (and who isn't?), dot some Pure Instinct on your wrists or in your cleavage. Your body heat will stimulate the Pure Instinct, which will boost pheromone production. Because the stress hormone cortisol is made where your pheromones are made, your body won't do both and will stop releasing cortisol. Magic :) Excellent if your stressful workday is full-time childwrangling.

Use a little Pure Instinct at the base of your neck before breastfeeding. You'll feel more relaxed and so will your baby, as your pheromones equal comfort and security.

Put some Pure Instinct in your children's lotion to calm them before bed. Spray some in the air if they're afraid of monsters in the closet or under the bed. If your child is nervous beginning a new adventure (first day of school, a sleepover, etc.), put a dot on her wrist and tell her it's a special fairy oil that helps you be brave when you give it a sniff. If she feels stressed, she'll smell the Pure Instinct and alleviate her own stress, gaining confidence in new situations.

Have a job where you're working for tips or commission? A little Pure Instinct on your wrists will not only relieve your stress but make you more appealing to your customers, increasing your tips and decreasing Nasty Customer Syndrome. TT consultants say that women who work in jobs like hairdressing, waitressing, real estate sales, etc. are their most loyal, most enthusiastic Pure Instinct customers.

The final pheromone product is the Champagne Lights Candle, which is a great way to set the mood without having to be in the room. Light your candle and then wait for the scent to spread (if you can have a candle at your desk, this is the one to have). As it does, you'll begin to release those stress-relieving, attraction-enhancing pheromones. Get your partner in the mood without him realizing that's what you're doing. The candle is made of pinpoint pellets that melt when lit. You can also dump the pellets into a tart melter, if you prefer. I'm only sorry I can't have one of these in your home by Thanksgiving. Think about it for next year -- or for family holiday dinners!

I've tried these products and my husband tells me that the attraction aspect works beautifully. I can also say that I've noticed people being friendlier and more receptive when I wear the pheromones (my favorites are Body Dew and Pure Instinct). I can't say whether that's due to the pheromones I give off or the fact that I'm more at ease and passing that along. It's likely both. All I can say is that I learned how pheromones work and the science made sense. When I tried these products, I felt relaxed and confident.

Was it pheromones or the placebo effect? It doesn't matter to me. What matters is that it worked! And while I was amazed, I wasn't really surprised. After all, it's Tasteful Treasures.

POW November 2-8: Dolphin Delight

We have a few products with Dolphin themes (including a Zoo Crew bullet sleeve, the Dolphin Kiss "c-ring" and the Wave Rider) so if you always wanted to pretend to be a marine biologist, these toys are for you.

Dolphin Delight is a fantastic "rabbit-style" vibrator. This means the toy combines a vibrating shaft (traditional "vibrator") with a bullet/egg placed on the shaft for clitoral stimulation.

Dolphin Delight is a great toy for women who are wary of penetration or are not interested in the longer shafts on some other toys. As you can see in the photo, the penetrating depth is shorter than a pinky finger. The balls are at the vaginal opening; the nose of the dolphin is on the clitoris. Tuesday Two for... PMS

If you've been thinking of trying a Tasteful Treasures product but aren't sure about getting something that requires batteries, this is a great Tuesday Two to try: The Amazing Heavenly Heart and the chocolate Body Topping.

The Amazing Heavenly Heart is one of the most popular items that distributors sell at parties and for good reason: seeing it in action is, well, amazing. It's a gel-filled, pliable heart, somewhat bigger than the palm of your hand. Inside is a silver disc. Snap that disc a few times and voila: the Heart heats up to 129 degrees and the gel turns to sugar-like crystals (you can see this happen through the opaque red plastic of the heart).

The heat lasts for about an hour, longer if you wrap it in a towel or have it under a blanket. It's discreet enough that you can tuck it between pants & panties during PMS time (it's a little too warm to place next to the skin for a prolonged period of time, in my opinion). Friday Vibe: Hare Raiser

Women love the rabbit style toys. As well we should. I get more people asking me about "rabbits" than anything else TT sells. Women want to know what "rabbits" we have, why they're special, what the differences are between different styles and, especially, which one they should get. Friday Vibe: Bullet girls woncha come out tonight

I didn't do a Tuesday Two because I was out of town and didn't think of writing one to pre-post. To make up for that, I'm highlight several items for Friday Vibe and the deal runs all weekend (through 11:59 PM 9/20).

There's such a phrase as "bullet girls" and if you've ever owned a bullet, you might be one. If you own a shoebox full, you are one. Bullets may go by other names -- "eggs" for example. If they're waterproof or sheathed in a condom, they can be used internally but they are primarily designed for clitoral stimulation. Bullets can also be part of other toys, like rings or sheath-style vibes.

Many women would like to try a toy but don't want a penetrative one. Bullets are an ideal option, as they can be used for external stimulation of not only the clitoris but also the labia, nipples, etc. If you're concerned that toys may function as a trigger for you (especially penetrative ones), speak to someone you trust (a therapist, physician, a message board support group, etc.) about egg-style toys and consider whether an externally-stimulating toy might be for you.

For only $8 more, you can get the Waterproof Bullet (left). It has four speeds and, in my opinion, those four speeds are plenty and the highest speed is more intense than the high speed on the basic Bullet (they may be identical; that's just my perception). The Waterproof Bullet has a smooth black coating out of the same material as the next bullet.

The Cordless Bullet comes in these cute, bright colors (the color of your bullet will vary) and is waterproof. It works perfectly with the Dolphin Kiss, for example, or the Zoo Crew sleeves. It has one speed (which is a high speed) and click on/off button. This bullet also includes a battery so it's good to go out of the box for less than $15.

You can order a cute set (left) with a Zoo Crew playmate cover and a quiet silver bullet (same as previous w/o waterproof coating plus samples of Slick and Good N Clean toy cleaner for under $20 (the Playful Pals set). You don't get to pick which animal you get when you order the set.

The Zoo Crew sleeves are individually available and in that case you can pick beaver (purple), platypus (blue, shown with Playful Pals set) or penguin (clear). Just pair it with a microbullet and you're all set.

There's another cute one-speed microbullet: Octo-plus (right). Of course Octo-plus is waterproof. It's another click on-off bullet. The bullet is in the head of the octopus. The leg vibration is minimal, providing a kind of light tickling. He also has a retrieval cord on top of his head, in case you want to use him internally. The color you get varies.

Before we move on from microbullets, I want to mention the Fingervibe (left). You slip it over your finger and it has a one-speed micro bullet inside. Fingervibe is waterproof. It also works great for sinus headaches, if you use the Fingervibe on your sinuses. I can't testify about how well it works for a sinus headache if you use it elsewhere. Sells for $19.

The basic bullet also comes in a "double" option, hence the name Double Bullet (right). Both eggs run on a single control and are not waterproof. The double bullet has two cords that connect it to the controller so the toy can be shared with a friend. Like the basic Bullet, its variable speed is controlled by a dial and goes from mild to wild. Since both run on the same control, both bullets vibrate at the same speed.

If you want like the idea of a smaller bullet but you want one with variable speeds (and a heck of a lot of power), I recommend the Micro Bullet (I call it "the blueberry"). It's small, it's quiet and it's powerful. The bullet is not waterproof but it does come with a sleeve (style varies) that provides you with a waterproof cover (I still only recommend using this externally). This little guy knows exactly what you need and where to go to give it to you. The variable speeds are delivered via a dial in the controller and range, again, from mild to wild. In my opinion, this is the most versatile bullet in the TT catalog. It works with any of the sleeves that fit the Cordless Bullet but it lets you choose the speed. It's a hard worker, durable and totally adorable and completely affordable: only $18.

I saved the cutest (IMO) for last. I saw this one at a TT party last weekend (it's not in my distributor kit but it's going to be) and thought it was absolutely adorable: The Precious Gem. First off, she's waterproof so you don't need a sheath for the bullet. You can use this like a regular one-speed bullet but you can also use it for -- get this -- making your own vibrating panties. Seriously. Put the bullet against your lily or happy button, then you layer on the panties, then clip the cute little jewel on the outside and a strong magnet will keep it in place (easy off when you're ready; it's a damn string magnet). It's also amazingly quiet. No one will know you're wearing it, whether it's on or off, until your eyes inexplicably roll back in your head while you're in the produce section of the supermarket. You can use it as a hands-free toy in or out of bed. Need to stand and do the dishes or iron? Just snap it in place, slip on yer britches and vavoom! Suddenly every day is chore day. Your house looks great and you've got a smile on your face. All your friends say, "How do you do it?" and you'll say, "I owe it all to my Precious Gem."

There are other bullet-utilizing toys in the catalog but I'll leave those for another day. The Bullet Gals want to order.

Tuesday Two for... Vegas!

Who has money to go anywhere these days, much less to Vegas? A scratch-off lottery ticket is enough of a gamble when every dollar counts. So here's a sure bet and it'll let you bring a little bit of Vegas into your bedroom anytime you want -- without a layover in Houston.

Tuesday Two For... the County Fair

Last week the SNP was for ladies who want their lovers to please them. Tonight it's the gents' turn.

I thought it might be fun to offer some of the answers I've given out privately here in the blog but in a very general way.
